Day Off = Photos!

Yep I got a day off work so time to take some more photos!  First up some newly painted models of WHQ

The Arachnorak spider has been sitting on various shelves for years and finally went beyond just basic colors to a finished model!

As usual don't ask how this thing ended up in a dungeon with doors that only two people at a time can walk through...

And to start finishing out the sewer monsters the Bile Trolls are done.  These are the dungeon saga zombie trolls .  They work nicely as they fit on a 25mm base but are obviously mono pose.  Still nice models for sure from Mantic.

Also I'm still having fun playing with my dolls and putting them in interesting dioramas so here we go!

Something tells me this party suspects the chest may be a mimic...

I like how the gloss finish on the tiles creates an accidental water reflection almost.

Most aren't crazy enough to corner a group of orcs.

My money is on the stuntie.

Dark Elves in the mist.

Nothing like a good old fashioned dwarve vs chaos dwarf scene.

This one is my favorite of the day for sure really has a nice mood.

Hope this wizard rolled well for power this turn...

Finally had to do a scene with the big spider since he's done!

Dance Macabre

Still making fun diorama photos!  This time with an undead theme:

A witch hunter leads the local soldiers to a vampire's lair.

This one consists of Heroquest minis and the reaper bones masoleum.

Another use of the GW graveyard terrain with a few Mantic zombies to foil the would be grave robbers.

Big Things, Cramped Dungeons

I'm getting closer and closer to being done with all the Warhammer Quest shenanigan's

For the frost giant I went with repainting a D&D miniature I found at a con.

The stone horn was a bit easier to paint than I was anticipating which was nice.  a really stunning model too.

For my Jabersylth I went with Reapers jaberwocky.  He's skinnier but I really like the scuplt.

The beastmen get several new monsters in Norsca such as this pumba-esque tuskagor.

And a giant Doombull to up the ante in the higher levels.

For the ogres I've finished up the maneaters both hero and...

The rest of the maneater family.  I'd like to get corresponding models to all the classes they can roll up but that would be a hefty investment in both time and money.

Gotta have some wolves for sure patrolling the tundra.

Centigors add some fast moving and hard hitting cavalry to beastmen encounters.

And last but maybe least the ungors in festive holiday colors.

As for the sewers I went back and finally tackled the hell pit abomination.  This was a real beast to paint and I'm glad I only have to do one!  That said I'm really happy with the OSL work on this one.

Finally I took a small break to paint up this Lord of the Jungle from Reaper as gift to a friend.

Fun Pics

Anyone who takes a look at this blog may quickly realize I have a stupid number of painted minis and props.  More than could be considered healthy.  Instead of seeking help I'm making fun dioramas with it and snapping pics!  These are going into the Warhammer Quest Rules we use as 'art':

I got my Real FX steam pod/portal in lately from their kickstarter.  The portal looks amazing.  I've added a 'filter' with hot glue to make it look less artificial.  I highly recommend getting one of these ASAP

This elephant was the result of a paint job I did for a gift.  Thought I should have a little fun with it before it goes out though.

These first ones I'm going a little crazy with light pods (also from Real FX kickstarter) They make fun shadows and earie glows.  So sue me I'm having fun!

I really like how this one turned out the OSL on the Hell Pit looks stunning in this light.

For my ghetto photo shoots I have two smart lights on tripods and one in the ceiling above the table.  This lets me experiment a lot more now with lights to make fun scenes.  The various props are all sorts of things I have gathered for terrain over the years.

I really wanted to get some use out of that tower/wall configuration as you can see...

This may be my favorite it has so much character and story to it with the knight and his entourage facing down the black dragon.

I'm really trying to not overuse the portal but its so hard!  This time I put in a different filter made of super glue and given a wash for color.  You can build up the glue on parchment paper to just put in place on the portal and switch out with whatever you want.

Lustrian Quests

Last batch of back stock photos!  A ton of lustria stuff has been finished up for Warhammer Quest.  Getting close now to having everything painted that we have in our version of the game!

Up first the old metal Carnosaur.  Honestly a great model and an easy paint.

I liked this amazon priestess mostly because she was easy to put together...

The rest of the amazons however (from the mordheim models if I recall) are insanely evil to put together. They are all metal and every one of them has separt parts for their hands so you could swap out weapons...

Needed an ancient carnoasaur as well so the newer plastic model fits the bill as a bigger dino!

Unlike the rest of the lizardmen I made the chameleon skinks more subdued and brooding.

And right back to bright offensive colors!  I had a ton of fun with the lustria models getting to experiment with colors all over the place.

Our Lustria expansion adds some new dark elves to the mix as well.  Up first the Corsairs.

Then comes the Shades who have a tendancy to run away after pew pewing arrows all over the party just to show up with every subsequent monster group.

Back to the Lizardmen here are the character models for Saurus, Skinks and the Skink shaman.

The ripperdactyls are a fun model I really like the ball joint flying stick that lets you pose them more dynamically.

I wish I had three of the older salamander models with the giant fins but alas I had to settle on these for now.

Gotta have at least one Slaan when adventuring in Lustria.

And the pink baby stegadon as well.

I ended up with the old metal temple guard that are a little runty compared to the new ones but still cute with their skull caps.

The terradons turned out nice and bright as well.  I wish they were plastic though as the flight stands are way to easy to break.

And finally I decided to taste the rainbow on the Troglodon.  I wend absolutely crazy with the spray paint before going in for detail work.
