Heroes 3 Even More Minis Edition!

I like minis, I do, but this game is getting a little nuts with just how many individual minis there are!  HoMMIII mostly has miniatures that are unique, ie no duplicates.  The new expansions have a few that are duplicated (to facilitate more than one player on the battlefield) but not many.  This leads to it being a slog to paint through quickly but tons of variety and some very interesting sculpts.

The new neutral units are mostly elementals though the leprachaun is a nice touch even if it isn't very flashy on the field.

Even more things to represent cardboard in 3d!  First aid tents and ammo carts as well as a neutral settlement and sea palace.

Siege equipment, because just having the card is certainly not enough!

Battlefield markers for damage and effects are no longer relegated to cardboard, huzzah!

Plenty of map markers too and negative morale (surprised that wasn't in the original set).

The dungeon entrances are a nice easy paint up but should look great in game.

I honestly was about to 3D print some crowns for players before this expansion was announce, much desired additions.

Perhaps the silliest inclusion are the ships.  Now when you move into the sea spaces you can replace your man on horse with a cute little boat for a little while.

And finally some more map markers but as a special bonus:

I also finished the Heroquest First Light minis!  Really didn't need another set of heroes but I get why they were included and at least they are new sculpts.  The dragon is a decent mini though the Crypt expansion dragon definitely beats it out in style.

Jungle Delvers!

Heroquest has moved to the jungles and I had to get the latest expansion painted up!  Nice to paint some less generic dungeon denizens for sure!

Lots of fun bright colors to paint this time which always makes me happy.

The new heroes seem like they will be very fun to play as.

The new furniture is really fun and a departure from some of the normal furniture.  I do wish the water basins and the fire would be separate.  I can't do the OSL on the flames without the water looking weird.

I will say the dupe sculpts on the cultists from the previous expansions was kind of a let down.  Just having a new paint scheme seems a little meh.

And that's made up for with raptors having feathers!  Love it!

The goblin warlock is kind of fun, didn't really want to paint more skeletons and goblins but they wil lbe nice to have gameplay wise.

Really liked the new undead models in this.  A nice departure from the usual zombies and skeletons.

The new large monsters are the real stars of the expansion and fun but easy paint jobs.  Really liked painting these and saved them for the end.

Why is everyone against the Ogres?!?!

Annnnnd Heroquest is fully painted again!

Finished up the stellar Ogre Horde expansion with top notch models and what looks to be fun non elf related quests!

First up the Rogue Heir (fitting how the elf is the thief) and a pair of Monks!

The druids are a big improvement over the crowd funded druid IMO plus they come with a puppy.

The ranged monsters were a top notch idea to add some variety.

Also helps that the sculpts were solid and fun to paint.

Some ogres are really dead set on high sticking.

The commander reminds me of a cross between GW ogres and Conan

I would like to know why the champion had weird colored skin on the card but it was a nice departure from the norm and fun to experiment with matching it.

This guy is the reason to buy this expansion, I want two he is so much fun to paint, has a ton of character and just that awesome ogre personality!

Again top o the line furniture every time,  The gates even open!

This is my favorite expansion so far by a mile and a half.  Keep it up!

Elves don't dread the moon...

I've never played the Rise of the Dread Moon quests but just looking at the elves I can only assume the plot goes something like this: "Hey fellow elves!  Let's form a dark cult to bring forth an ancient evil and mess with the occult to wipe out all peace from the world!".  Dunno just probably what they are doing.

Still a much more fun expansion to paint than the first elf questing.

The cultists are cute and do their best to praise the sun so they get a win!

No these aren't the same elves from last time, I had to paint yet more of them for this expansion.

Another easy minute or two paint job to get the ghosts all ghosting!

The magus guard are honestly pretty sweet models and easy to paint to boot.

And the mercenaries and knight all ready to quest!

Again more top notch furniture these HQ remakes and expansions are worth it for the dungeon furniture alone!

Another big happy family ready to be hidden away for all time!

Elf Quest?

Yes despite my obvious hatred towards the pointed eared, world devastating, bungling demonic elves I did want to finish all my heroquest expansions.  So the Mage in the Mirror needed a painting...

So many evil elves painted, just look at them!  They are plotting to create some artefact that ends the world as we speak!

Ogres on the other hand have layers and are very enjoyable to paint.

Elf? Dark Elf? Needs some time in the sun for sure for the Arch Mage.

And puppy dogs!  Its nice when there's something super easy to paint in a set.

The new furniture is absolutely impressive and fun to paint up!

Always have to have a new door or 6 with every expansion.

And the whole expansion painted and ready to go back in the box!

Below Zero Scare

Still painting way ahead of my ability to get photos done!  This project got side tracked though when the Cthulhu Wars kick starter came in.  The Frozen horror showed up long ago to make sure I didn't have all my Heroquest painted and I got started right away but then took a year long break from it for madness!

This (and The Ogre Hoard) were my most anticipated remakes and I still hope to play through them some day with my child (he's not quite reeady yet!).

Between this and the ogre's I've been getting really streamlined on my 'cold dudes' painting.

This stalky big boy was a great sculpt!  They really knocked it out of the park.  My only criticism is that it's the only heroquest mini with a fully sculpted base so its a little out of place.

I want to stick to the artwork in the game but these mercenaries have a really boring paint scheme.  Really wanted to add some neon pink and fun colors!

That's the whole frozen horror!  Got a ton of stuff left to paint up though I have a start on the next expansion already painting some furniture:
