Spooky Dessert Stuff

The Empire of Dust has quite a few new reinforcements now and its high time I get the pictures up!

The behemoth was an easy model to finish with this paint scheme but it has become a very striking centerpiece for sure.

No undead army is complete without some spooky skeletons!

The enslaved guardians have recently been given an upgrade so I made it a priority to finish these.

Even the ones with melee weapons got better!

There's even a new mummy formation and since it calls for two regiments I just had to add a second!

The soul snare has become an amazing mid range harassment unit with a longer ranged life drain.  great way to mitigate more damage in the army.

Finally I've added two cursed high priests on foot to round out the character selection.

Oops not fish people!

Needed a few characters for the Empire of Dust...

Two army standard bearers with very slight conversions (tomb kings and dark elf parts for the banners with a bit of chopping to make them look worn).

And a second Cursed High priest on pony!

Waves!

Finished up a lot of Trident Realms stuff and a unit for Empire of Dust

First troop of Naiad Heartpierces as I'm sure the grey plastic ones will eventually get paint splattered on them.

Two good old fashioned Leviathan Banes

My new favorite model of all the Mantic Greater Water Elemental.  This is both a joy to paint and just an amazing sculpt.  They could have been super lazy with this elemental and it would have been fine but they really put the effort in!

Seriously pick one of these up and have fun!

Eckter got a quick paint up too as a placoderm is just to hard to resist in a low def army.

And finally two regiments of Swarms for the Empire of Dust!

More Bones!

The Empire of Dust army is really coming together now.  Well past the 2k points mark now and moving fast!

Boney Giants

Thanks to spray paint pre shading these guys painted up in about two hours.  They look a lot better now that they aren't bare metal!

From Oceans to Dusty Desert

I swear it's not Hobby ADD!  But I did  convert and paint up the Restless Souls of Raia from the Edge of the Abyss campaign book.

Just some tomb kings skeletons with a few bits and pieces added.  There a a few cartoon like bombs added in as well!

Torches, gunpowder and brainless skeletons....

Wrapped Up and Under Water

It is a sad time for gaming as our local store is closing down.  In spite of this I still got a few things done.

The empire of Dust army now adds a regiment of mummies to its shuffling ranks.  It would be nice if all models were this fast and easy to paint up sometimes...

And I even got started on my Trident Realms army with a big old Knucker!  I've been struggling with the scheme and basing for this army for a very long time in my mind.  I finally decided to try and tackle it now.

Dusting em Off

On a whim I decided to paint up a few more empire of dust models for KoW:

Second regiment of Scavengers done so now I can have two or a single horde.

For the bone dragon I just raided my Castle Ravenloft board game and stole the dracolich from it.  Wasn't really sold on the model until I got it painted up.  The obelisk is just a carved up piece of foam.

Not a bad bit of work for a single day especially since it took a long time for washes and modge podge to dry.  May be doing a few more dragons next...

Dusting Off An Old Empire

For some reason or another I had a few days off in a row (a true rarity) and decided to see if I could paint up an army in one go.  I've been looking at doing a purple and teal army for a while now and decided that the Empire of Dust would be a good opportunity for it.  I already had a now super rare Tomb Kings army as payment from a commission long long ago so gathering the models was easy.  With the Clash of Kings 2018 rules giving a buff to chariots I just couldn't resist any longer and after a quick build on easy army the priming begun...

Cursed High Priest and Revenent Champion.  The Champion was a charioteer left over from replacing a driver with the next model:

The Cursed Pharaoh on chariot gave me a good reason to put the old Tomb Kings special character in a place of prominence within the army.  Plus I needed something to lead the masses of....

Chariots. Just so many chariots.

And if I ever want to run them as Egyptians from KoW Historicals I have a legion.  Not a good idea with how GIGANTIC the footprint is but options are nice...

The Skeleton Cavalry definitely won't cause damage at 5+ to hit but they are nice cheap chaff units for sure.

Scavengers were far too good to resist and I didn't want to just do more cavalry to fill in the 1k points. Of coarse I had to try and keep the purple and teal theme going (even if its a very dark purple!

So after 5 days I had an army painted up and ready to go!  They did of coarse lose their first outing but hey I lose a lot with armies I even know so a new one is a learning curve all it's own.  The models for the most part are a real easy paint up generally starting with a white primer with a brown wash and drybrushing the lighter colors.  Generally after that thin layers of color go on easy.  The bases had the peaks of the sand built up with super glue and smoothed over as layers of sand were glued on with mod podge.

Overall I'm happy with the army especially with how fast it came into being.  It was also nice to paint something easy as the brotherhood are proving to be as challenging as I thought they would be.
