Dwarves Vs Zombies?

Wellp time to fill in a few Kings of War armies.  Before starting a new project I thought it would be good to fill in a few of the less painted armies, plus my son is having a blast with Battle Masters and the minis work great there too!

Another unit of Dwarf Ironguard with a mix of GW and Avatars of war.  The unit champion is from a friend and I have no idea where it originally came from.

My third regiment of zombies for the undead army, this is an army I'd really like to bring up to speed since at this point I can only stretch it to maybe 1500 points.

Speaking of battle masters we tried another set of experimental lists.  This time the dragons were soundly beaten back by the elves.  Buff and nerfs were to follow...

Is that Ranking and Flanking I hear?

With Cthulhu Wars all painted up (again) and several board games getting a treatment I felt like its time to paint what I consider 'comfort models' ie DWARVES!

It's been a long time since I've done and painting for Kings of War (still my favorite and only war game anymore!) so lets crack open some real classic models!

Always loved this sculpt of Ungrim and long since wanted to have one of my own.  He's just so blocky and cute!  Who's a little slayer-king?

This one has been on my list for ages as well the 30th aniversary white dwarf model with the dwarf himself, Gotrek and Bugman all in one!

And the last addition is my first unit of Ironclad drinking lads!  These models came from so many sources I honestly don't know all of them!  Some kickstarters, a few GW ones even some reaper but lots of personality!

The Lands of More-Dwarf!

Because painting beards is just a great hobby for anyone, I painted more!

The bullwarkers are finished up and I have my own shiny horde of dwarfy spear people!

Mantic's steel behemoth was a must have and provides a nice centerpiece in an infantry heavy army.

The army has finally grown into a real army now and I'm really liking the progress.

Stunties!!!!

Yeah I know its been a while...

But whatever! I've got new dwarves!

No dwarf army would be caught out in a mine without big boomy guns!

One of the gunners even has a nice instruction manual telling him what to roll to hit the target...

Somehow I did fit the flame belcher on a 50mm base.  Really like the pointing dwarf on this one he's just got a lot of character to him.

I REALLY like painting dwarves and I don't know why.  I didn't even need all these characters but they were just so much fun to paint!  Must be the beards...

For my berserker lord on Brock I went for this gorgeous reaper miniature.

And Mantic's models worked great for exactly the purpose they were cast for!  These guys were a lot more fun to paint than I thought they'd be.

These guys have finally been upgraded to a full on regiment!

And last but not least I've got my throwing pugs of war!

Unleash the pugs of war!

So as soon as reaper came out with their war pugs I had to have them.  Lots of them!

Now I can cry dwarf and unleash the pugs of war!   Thanks to CoK 18 for adding in the Mastif Hunting Pack units for dwarves. Now I have two lovely regiments to use as wonderful chaff!

And might as well get some throwing mastif markers while I'm painting pugs!

I've also begun doing commission work again and first up is the greater fire elemental from mantic.

A Legion of Haggis!

I happily backed a kickstarter by Fez Sinister Games called Haggis recently.  It's not miniature golf, it's golf with miniatures!

It's a wonderfully goofy and fun game that plays fast and really lets you do some bonkers fun modeling.  As a result I now finally have my first golfer and caddie done:

Yes that is a dwarven slayer with a halfling caddie to keep the carbs coming!

I made a display base for the duo as well...

Which just so happens to fit in as a unit filler in my Kings of War dwarf army hmmmm...

I also finished up an AT-ST for Legion.  This one is up for sale on ebay so I've left the base plain.

Huge model and amazingly easy to assemble which is highly welcome.

Back to Nature and Stunties

Been a while since the last update but it doesn't mean I haven't made progress on the hobby front.

The dwarves got some much needed love in the form of a regiment of Ironclad.  These of coarse are the GW Ironbreakers and they are beautiful models and some of the last models they've made that still have that 'dwarfy' look that I love so much from them.

To accompany my tree herder for Forces of Nature I added a forest warden (smaller base so it works!).

Been meaning to add another Beast of Nature so I stole this one and rebased it from Warhammer quest.

Finally got my hands on some of the Mantic Earth elementals and wow was I impressed.  Great sculpt and lots of fun to be had with these models.

Added another Unicorn to complete the trio of massive healing.  These guys combined to keep a unit of Naiads alive for nearly an entire game.  Thanks to healing and regen that unit probably took around 60 damage over the coarse of a game.

I'm am super stoked about the Woodland Critters added in for CoK 18.  This really is the type of unit I wanted and more for Nature.  They tank decently well despite the 2+ nerve, move reasonably fast and are super cheap!

The last woodland Critters horde is made up of toy spiders painted up to look as neutral as I could make spiders look!

And finally the forces of nature are at a good stoping spot for now and I consider them 'done'.  As such they have moved on up to the Finished Projects pages at 5000+ points!

Good Dwarves and some Infinity!

Though no project ever seems to remain 'complete' I have added completed projects to the side bar.  Hopefully as I get pictures updated and in presentable quality I can keep a log of armies that are 'completed'.  In general this just means I haven't added anything more to them for a while.

With that I now have a 1000 point demo army of dwarves!

When I realized a troop of rangers could bump this up to a respectable 1000 points I figured it was time to revisit the old diamond mine dwarves!  I'd like to go back and make a more interesting banner some day when I can find the inspiration and ideas for it.

And here's the whole (smallish) army.  You can check up some close ups of the units on the right sidebar under 'completed projects'

And since this is a random paint-o-matic here are a few more Ariadna Infinity models.  The guy I painted them for needed to quickly expand his force for a few missions so these were done in roughly a night.

Now With More Dwarf!

Finally back again!  I could no longer stand my terrible camera and have switched to a smart phone with an amazingly useful camera built in!  Going to have a lot of back logged things to post now that I can take 'respectable' pictures again.

Anyways on to the dwarves for whom I have just assembled a small army for kings of war games:

First up a group photo.  This is something I just really could not manage with any clarity on the old camera so its nice to be able to take these types of things finally.

This little guy has gotten a new shiny base to match the diamond mine theme.  He's still the same little guy from WHQ so his paint style is a few years back but heck he might as well lead a few stunties!

This was the cheapest unit I've ever made.  Just glue a bunch of random plastic table decorations together and suddenly earth elementals!  You can pick these little guys up at craft stores fairly cheap usually around the wedding decorations.

Just add more and you get a greater earth elemental.

And then some shield breakers.  Going to experiment with lots of random unit fillers to break up the rank and file look without going full multibase on this army. I did post these guys before but now they are a full regiment size instead of a troop.

And finally some berserkers.  Plenty more of those to paint up when I get around to it.
