Rats, Foiled Again!

I wanted to start running a horde army and since the Ratkin were halfway there I decided to get them finished up in only 2 weeks time for a meetup.  Jokes on me because I should have played forces of nature, then maybe it wouldn't have dumped winter apocalypse all over and canceled the meetup...

I quickly threw together a 2000 point list that I thought I could scrounge together in time.  Do note that most of these models were already painted from previous projects and just needed some bases build and a few extra models to flesh out the unit.  It wasn't all started from scratch in 2 weeks!

The brutes have been expanded to a horde and feel much more dangerous now.

I used plague censers and poison wind rats to fill in the Blight and make a horde of those!

Reaper kobolds and various things were quickly scavanged for a slave horde.

Two troops of clawshots because no matter how bad they perform for me they seem ok on paper...

My only death engine for now painted up several years ago.

These spear rats have been languishing unused for a long time, still need to add some moss around the movement tray though...

The only real reason I want to run this army of coarse is the demon rat of happy fun times!

I had about 12ish metal stormvermin before starting this horde so this took the most time by far.

The warriors were already done and now just need some moss around the edges.

And of coarse a group shot of the whole army.  Most of it was going into 2k points but a few things were just left out for lack of room.  Nice to have a solid start to the army though now.

A Sewer Runs Through Them

On my sudden need to complete 1000 point demo armies the Ratkin finally hit the table again!

Never do want to assemble and paint another one these they are way too packed with detail though the model does look great on the table.

Spearmen have been rebased to fit the theme and given a magnetic movement tray.

The blight were taken from warhammer quest and re based to fit the theme.  Since I only had 14 a unit filler was totally nescessary and breaks it up a bit too.

Want to get at least a one horde of brutes eventually but these are enough for the demo.

and finally a group shot.  You can see the rest of the army on the completed projects page right here

Rats!

Due to warhammer quest insanity I had acquired most of a skaven army over time.  Of course this means I needed to now turn it into a Ratkin army for Kings of War!  A lot of these were already mostly if not fully painted.  They just recquired a base theme of which I'm going full on sewer, non multi basing.

Clawshots will need some bigger bases when I go to make a second troop as these little buggers are at least $50 for just 3 models now.  Putting a few on 50mm will keep a nice minimum model count and still look good.

One of the many weapon teams I've accumulated throughout the hobby.

The first horde of warriors.  I have something much tackier in mind for the tunnel slaves...

The old warlock and another hero now with spiffy bases after all these years.

The Vermin Lord is being re-conscripted as a demon spawn.

First set of brutes ready to go!

And since I rarely seem to put up works in progress here's a piece of artillery converted from the old weapons and warriors catapults.  The best part is that is still works mechanically and can launch dice and other refuse at your opponent during games!
