Haqqislamed!

 Finished up the Haqqislam commission.  This was for a full army basically and was a fun diversion from all the fantasy I usually paint!  These were all done as Level 1's with a level 1 base.  Lots of pre shading and glazing/washing to create a dusty desert look.

I really like these heavy armor models.  Not sure why but they are just fun I suppose.

More Yu-Jing

I finally have enough for an infinity army of mine own!  I guess I should do some playing of the game now...

Also more terrain has made it's way to the tables:

And yes I'm sticking to some very unrealistic color schemes with lots of wear and tear.

Terrain Extravaganza!

Lots of random today!  First up a pile of Infinity terrain.

Outside of the weathering effects all of the painting was done with spray paint making the paint jobs quick and easy.

This giant warsenal cosmica was a major pain to put together but its a super sweet piece to have on the table!

Yes everything is in obnoxious 80s flavor!

The undead are nearly done but I'm still waiting on more water effects to come in as the two I had have dried up.  So soon a new army!

Hippos and Beyond

So I found bags of glowing rocks which of necessitated the painting of my Yu-Jing Infinity...

And as a bonus the drakon horde is finished for the elves!

Elves, Creeps and Cities

A few new things are done or at least done-ish.  I've been agonizing over how I wanted my elf army to look and finally came up with something suitably elfy:

I still need some more elves finished before there are enough to meet at least minimum model count but it's nice to have the formula down. Yes my madness does force me to paint something pink at least once a year...

Next up I needed some genestealers to steal some genes during the Sodak Con space hulk game.  Of course I just had to do an aliens rip off not only because I can but because its super fast:
 

Finally (and with much more effort) our infinity group needed a map to campaign on.  apparently they've gotten jealous of the Kings of War one so two butchered monopoly sets, 1 butchered catan, expansion and seafarers set, tiles from the original mighty empires by GW (yes all the city blocks are those tiles which are VERY out of print) and I now have only my second most expensive campaign map...   Yes I need help!

Still despite my descent into madness I like the finished result.

Very Random Progress

Managed to get a few things finished up lately.  First up a random abyssal dwarf on evil ram!

Needed to do a quick paint up of an infinity ariadna model for a friend as well:

Thanks to the sacrifice of  two cardboard card storage boxes and a boat load of Popsicle sticks I now have two giant siege towers for the upcoming campaign!

And finally started the dragon army.  Glitter bombing the bases was a blast but I feel like I may need some extras on the base for variety...

More Random More Now!

Got a selection of various things some old some new some really old!  First the really old a display board for the Ariadna army I did a long while back:

A splash of Infinity

Had a 'quick' commission for a friends Ariadna force.  They turned out alright for being about a months worth of free time gone.

Every army needs pink no matter what.

Sewers level!

Its been done for some time but I never managed to get acceptable pics of the city/sewer board that I made for our local store.

Top board is a fairly normal 4x4 city board.  Fairly simple and flat though I have to admit doing the streets at an angle is way more difficult than it looks.  this only complicated itself with the sewer that lines up with it underneath...

The city streets are a simple build of foam core for the blocks and simple paint jobs.  The sewer grates are simple green stuff sculpts that really anyone could do as well.  lets get to the underside of this board though:

The sewer board in all its insane glory.  This is primarily meant as an Infinity board but can work for other systems with skirmishing infantry fairly well.

The long channels are gutters chopped to fit and the ribbed pipes beneath them are simple drainage pipes cut in half lengthwise.

All the rocks are Great Stuff spray foam pilled on to taste and provide a tone of stability to the board.  The city board that goes on top lines up with the sewer exit pipes so a large battle can be had on a small board with ease.

Behold the majestic Narwhal  immortalized in graffiti!  After putting the board in I just invited everyone in the store to add graffiti and did a bit of my own as well.

As fun as the Hobbit starter set terrain looked it really served no useful purpose in war gaming until this board.  The barrels are all GW start paint pots that never even made it to our store before drying up. Thankfully the Walmart spray paint and Vallejo paints used to make them look more like barrels functioned fine.

Here's one of the PVC pipes used as transition points between boards.  Originally they were going to be the main/only support for the top board but the foam quickly took over that role.

And now some progress shots so you can see the assembly proccess:

So planning took a lot of sitting and thinking about how to manage a stupidly large project for as little money as possible.  Lots of liquid nails and cheap foam here just getting the main shapes and piping in.

 The waters been put in here with a first layer of plaster and a second layer of silicone to make sure it doesn't chip or get ruined later on.  War gamers are incredibly abusive people when it comes to terrain they don't own.  This took many black spray cans to prime.  Their sacrifice was not in vain!

Just some preliminary coloring with spray paint.

And here is the board with most the colored spray painting done.  Using a spray can to put down base colors takes a little practice and experimenting but saves a tone on time as none of this is brush work at this point.  Its like using a single action airbrush that only covers a large area.  Unfortunately by this point I was still working in a very poorly lit garage and the water look way darker and moodier than Caribbean to my eyes until I took a picture and color corrected the flash.  After this pic I went in with some browns and greens to dirty up the water as well as a greyish green wash.

This is to date the largest scratch build by far that I have or ever want to do.  But at least it looks sweet to play on in store!  Anyone who wants to try this board out come down to Who's Games in Rapid City South Dakota as its always out and avaailable.
